Diving in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated U.S. territory sitting just 1,200 miles to the southeast of Florida in the center of the Caribbean. The Puerto Rican landscape is full of mountains, waterfalls, and the famous El Yunque tropical rainforest. Its shoreline consists of dozens of islets, cays, and white sand beaches perfect for snorkeling and diving. Although the island was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, it has made a significant comeback and is ready for divers to return to its waters. Puerto Rico offers year-round warm water diving with temperatures rarely dropping below 80º F (27ºC), and air temperatures that can vary from warm to hot averaging 75 to 92º F (24 to 33ºC) between summer and winter seasons. However, it’s best to avoid traveling to Puerto Rico during hurricane season which falls between May to October. San Juan is the capital and where the international airport is located and is easily accessible with daily flights from all over the United States and many countries directly.
