Puerto Galera, a Spanish name meaning “ Port of Galleons,” has plenty of shipwrecks waiting to be explored, as the Spanish used this place as a haven for their ships during the typhoon season. You will find over 152 coral species, over 180 species of nudibranchs, 19 mangrove species, and 9 out of the world’s 16 seagrass species, making Puerto Galera a biodiversity hotspot and a diving paradise. Beautiful corals, dramatic walls, and stunning reefs are also part of this varied marine world. Head to the west of the region to explore many secluded coves.
